After closely monitoring the projections for the incoming nor’easter over the past several days, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Ocean State XC Invitational scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Goddard Park.
Unfortunately, conditions at the park are already becoming a concern, with tree branches down in the woods today. With wind gusts of 50+ mph expected on Saturday, we cannot safely hold a cross country meet on the course, as much of it travels through the woods under trees.
We know how much planning goes into getting your teams to a meet, and we did not make this decision lightly. We have continued to monitor the storm closely in hopes that the forecast would improve, but the expected conditions leave us no responsible option other than to cancel. It was important that we made this decision early enough for you to change your transportation plans.
With cross country season schedules already so tight, the 2026 Ocean State XC Invitational will not be rescheduled.
For those teams that already sent a payment, we can offer two options. When you reply, please let us know which option your school would like.
1) Use it as a credit towards the 2027 Ocean State XC Invitational
2) We will refund your entry
We are incredibly disappointed that we won't be able to welcome you and your athletes to Goddard Park this weekend, but the safety of the athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators has to come first.

The Ocean State XC Invitational includes a full program of races for middle schools, high schools and an open 5k. All races will be at Goddard Park, 1095 Ives Road, Warwick, Rhode Island 02818
Date:September 25-26, 2026 Middle school races will be held on Friday, September 25 and the high school races will be held on Saturday, September 26.
